I recently read this in David Burns, MD’s many books on anxiety and depression. If this is true (and I believe it is) then we need to re-examine our thoughts in order to change how we feel. We stand to gain an awful lot, namely less pain, more freedom and an increased feeling of self esteem.
The thoughts that are in your head about any perceived deficiency you think you have came from a source that clearly does not care about your success. Quite frankly, this voice, wherever it came from, is not true, never has been true about you and is no indication of who you are at your core. Don’t believe it. It’s asking for a challenge, so rise up and prove it wrong!
